Decades of PBM Experience

Several years ago, a team of industry veterans founded Araya. We founded our company based on the idea that all discounts and pharmacy rebates should be passed on to the client – a full pass-through model. Today, our team of licensed pharmacists with decades of PBM experience remain committed to this model.

Araya serves a wide range of self-insured payers including school districts, municipalities, private employers, and agencies. Our clients’ businesses range in size from 50 to 5000 and benefit from pricing and trends that are normally only available to much larger organizations. All payers benefit from our skills and experience – both as a PBM and as pharmacists.

Commitment to a Simple Structure

Our clients pay what the pharmacy is paid. Araya receives a flat inclusive administrative fee. We also pass on 100% of the rebates received from pharmaceutical companies to our clients. There are no hidden fees, no DIR, no manipulation of manufacturer assistance programs.

Aligned Incentives

Araya is a third-party administrator of prescription drug claims. While our team is made up of fully licensed pharmacists, we do not own pharmacies. We do not generate revenue from rebates. Our goal is to help our clients choose the best provider and drug for the specific patient and plan. There is no incentive for us to do things any other way.

With our team’s decades of PBM experience, we’ve gained a lot of knowledge to share. Between managing millions of lives and serving hundreds of clients, we’ve learned a lot about pricing, tools, and practices that are normally limited to the largest carriers and PBMs. This means that we can share our knowledge and give you access to the same pricing, tools, and practices those larger carriers and PBMs have.

Our Philosophy

Publicly traded companies have a fiduciary responsibility to their shareholders to maximize profit. Companies backed by private equity partners face the same type of outside influence to build in margins that do not necessarily improve patient care or reduce costs. Choosing a PBM that falls into one of these categories almost ensures you are paying more than necessary to provide prescription drug benefits to your members.

Araya is a privately held organization located in Latham, New York. Our success depends upon the continued financial success of our clients and the health of their members -  not on the return to investors. Because we take no ownership interest in the pharmacy network or home delivery providers, we can align our incentives with those of the client. 

We follow a pass-through model to make decisions in the best interest of patients and clients.

Our Structure Is Simple
